About Me

My name is Antonia Capoccia, and I am an artist and illustrator based in Adelaide, Australia.

My passion for Visual Art from a young age lead me to complete a Bachelor of Visual Art at the Adelaide Central School of Art. I now work as a Secondary School Teacher of Language and Visual Art. Since graduating, I have exhibited in the Adelaide and Fleurieu Peninsula area, and completed a number of commissions.

My practice has always been concerned with the contrasting and complimenting of  classical realism and popular modern aesthetics. The brighter and the more absurd the colour palette, the better. My work pays homage to the beautiful perfection of artwork from the Renaissance and Baroque periods (and gives them a new lease on life!) Furthermore I aim to raise current popular culture icons to the same height in a modern way as those revered in the 15th and 16th century!

Although beginning my career as an oil painter, I have recently taken to digital illustration as my preferred medium.
